What’s the best season to go?

Spring or autumn. Better avoiding the warmer months, especially in the Po Valley, where there is very little shade and a hot and humid climate. Winter can be suggestive.

Which bike should I use?

We recommend travel bikes, hybrids, gravel or a mountain bike.

What kind of roads are travelled?

The itinerary takes mainly place on minor roads with little traffic. When possible, protected cycle routes have been chosen and if there is no alternative, the itinerary goes on short stretches of roads with vehicular traffic. In some legs, it is planned to cross rivers and lagoons on boats. It is necessary to check the service is available.

Is the route suitable for children?

Families with children can choose the easiest, most protected legs and avoid the legs with traffic. The most suitable travel proposal is Venice – Ravenna. We advise you to study the interactive map or contact the local tourist offices to check the characteristics of the various stretches.

Do you need to be well trained?

Inexperienced or untrained people can choose the long flat stretches of the route, such as Venice – Trieste – Koper. Trained people will find the Kranjska Gora – Trieste – Koper leg very fascinating.

How long are the stages?

The cycle route is divided into “3 travel proposals” of various lengths. Each proposal is divided into daily stages of about 50 km. Each stage ends in tourist destinations equipped with services and adequate accommodation capacity. Tourists can vary the length and number of stages according to their training and specific needs.
