It is the main economic centre of the Karst and is home to a centuries-old botanical garden and the Living Museum of the Karst which covers over 700 hectares and offers a spectacular view of the natural and cultural heritage of this region. The best theme trail in Slovenia was proclaimed in 2017 and consists of a network of themed trails and cross-border recreational routes with marked points of interest along the way.
