Concordia Sagittaria

Concordia Sagittaria

One of the most interesting archaeological areas in the whole Veneto. It is the Roman colony of Iulia Concordia, built in 42 B.C. at the crossroads of the consular roads Annia and Postumia: in the 3rd and 4th centuries it was the site of an important arrow factory and became a bulwark on the eastern border. An archaeological itinerary allows you to visit the most interesting finds from the Roman and late-antique periods: the remains of the bridge and Roman domus, the site of the theatre, the complex of early Christian basilicas. Other monuments to visit are the great cathedral of Santo Stefano protomartyr, the 11th century baptistery containing a cycle of frescoes, the 15th century Palazzo Vescovile and the 16th century Palazzo Municipale.
